How Odoo Can Optimise Your Warehouse

For a lot of businesses, the importance of warehouse and inventory management cannot be understated. Whether it’s receiving goods from a vendor, sorting them into stock locations, picking and packing, or delivery, so much needs to go right for your business to be successful.

With that said, warehouse operations can also be a nightmare for businesses that don’t have a proper integrated system in place. Using multiple platforms runs the risk of introducing inconsistencies into your system, and once you factor in the human error element of having to navigate several different (and often outdated) pieces of software while under the pump to get your orders out, it can all very quickly spiral out of control.

Enter Odoo.

Odoo is a powerful ERP that can fully manage every step of your supply chain. It has a full range of in-built features, while also being fully customisable to your business’ specific needs. On top of that, its inventory modules run flawlessly on any Android scanner.

Here are a few of the ways Odoo can help you run your warehouse:

Batch Picking

No matter the size of your warehouse, picking efficiency is the key to getting your orders delivered on time. You need a system that streamlines the process while also being intuitive and easy for your pickers to follow.

That’s where Batch Picking comes in. Odoo can intelligently group orders together and create a logical picking list that your team can follow along with on their scanners. No more going back and forth between locations for the same order - Odoo will create the optimal route for your picking list so that your team can fulfil multiple orders as smoothly as possible.

Lot Tracking

If you need to keep track of your products from each received shipment collectively rather than individually, Odoo’s Lots feature has you covered. When enabled, it allows you to keep track of which deliveries your outgoing stock originated from. This makes things like FIFO inventory management or tracking down defective batches simpler than they've ever been.

Reordering Rules

Inventory replenishment is essential to making sure you have enough stock to meet your customers’ demand, but with everything else going on, you can’t risk missing an reorder and losing out on sales.

With Odoo’s Reordering Rules, you can set minimum stock thresholds for each product or category. Once your inventory is forecasted to drop below that amount, Odoo will automatically generate a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to replenish your stock up to a maximum amount of your choosing. If you replenishment methodology is more complicated than that, Odoo can just as easily use custom algorithms to determine when to trigger an RFQ.

This is just a glimpse of what Odoo can do for your warehouse operations. If you need it, Odoo can do it.
